MEDICAL, SURGICAL NURSING:
Medical, Surgical Nursing is the back bone of the B.Sc nursing Degree program. It
is a very vast subject and the students study this subject in the second and third
year of the curriculum.
Through this students acquire an extensive clinical exposure to get acquaint with
patients in the various medical and surgical conditions. They become familiar with
operation theatre, it’s set up and various equipment. Further students are supervised
to treat patient with disorders of the Eye & ENT. Medical Surgical Nursing is clubbed
with subjects such as Pharmacology, Pathology and Genetics to enrich the scientific
knowledge of the students.
In order to mold the students fully competent in this area of nursing the students
are sent for clinical posting to our parent hospital and Gandhi Hospital , which
is one of the prominent Medical College Hospital in A.P. These hospitals provide
a vast opportunity for the student to gain practical knowledge in various super
specialties such as Nephrology, Oncology and Multi specialty ICUs including Medical
ICU, CVTS ICU, Neuro ICU etc. This experience enhances the skills of the students
and enriches the knowledge gained in the classroom. The students conduct seminars,
symposium and group discussions, case studies, case analysis, case presentations
and procedure demonstrations to enhance their knowledge and skills.

COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING
Community Health Nursing is specially designed to meet the wide ranging needs of
the society. Community health care nursing practices are adapting to a rapidly changing
health care environment. Community Health Nursing specialty prepares the students
to understand the community and their health status to serve them better.
It is concerned with motivating individual and groups to learn healthy life style
to achieve optimum health. The student uses innovative and cost effective strategies
of primary health care to identify and solve the problems in the community. The
students are getting trained them various community setting such as Panbazar – Urban
PHC and Keesara – Rural PHC.
This experience expose the students to various national program such as World AIDS
Day, World TB Day, Breast Feeing Week etc., Method of training in the field include
problem assessment and analysis by surveys, Health screenings, ‘Mass campaigns,
Home visits, School Health Program etc. This department acts as a liaison between
the campus and community.

CHILD HEALTH NURSING
Community Health Nursing is specially designed to meet the wide ranging needs of
the society. Community health care nursing practices are adapting to a rapidly changing
health care environment. Community Health Nursing specialty prepares the students
to understand the community and their health status to serve them better.
Child Health Nursing includes child health medicine and surgery. It is a part of
third year B.Sc (N) curriculum. The objective of this subject is to make aware the
student to assess the normal growth and development of children and to understand
the deviation from normal.
Faculty impacts, in depth knowledge in embryology, genetics, child psychology, Paedicatric
medicine, Surgery, Nutrition etc. students gain all the required clinical exposure
in this area from Gandhi Medical College and Vijay Health Care.

MENTAL HEALTH NURSING
Mental Health Nursing is the third years B.Sc(N) program, is designed to understand
the mental concepts and related ailments. It includes in depth study of behavior
problem of the individual, stress and adaptation and various counseling methods.
The Psychiatric nursing faculty give an expert guidance for the students to apply
preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative aspect of Mental health care
and the principles of mental health nursing.
The students gain clinical experience in this institute from Institute of Mental
Health, Erragadda, and are also are exposed to various areas like home for the mentally
retarded, Orphanages and old age homes through educational visits.

OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGICAL NURSING
Obstetric and Gynaecological Nursing is the third and fourth year of B.Sc (N) curriculum
is to prepare the students to provide comprehensive nursing care to antenatal, intranatal
and postnatal mother and new born babies. The training is implemented in such a
way that the students are able to notify and handle both normal and abnormal deliveries.
The clinical exposure in this area is from Gandhi Medical College Hospital and Vijaya
Health Care. This clinical training is done under the consistent supervision and
training of expert obsetriticians and experienced faculty members help to mold a
group of highly motivated midwives.
The students gain clinical experience in this institute from Institute of Mental
Health, Erragadda, and are also are exposed to various areas like home for the mentally

NURSING EDUCATION AND ADMINISTRATION AND
RESEARCH
The main motto of this department is to practice the students for advance management
of Nursing services in the community hospital and educational institutions. This
subject helps the students to act as a good manager and administrator.
The subjects include practice of teaching, conducting research studies, administrative
duties both in hospital and college. This subject is included in the fourth year
of B.Sc (N) degree program.
